Equipment

  • 1 small mixing bowl
  • 1 glass jar

Ingredients
  

  • 250 grams (1 cup) tomato paste (can use tomato puree)
  • ½ tablespoon honey (adjustable to taste)
  • tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (smoked or not smoked)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 pinch of ground cloves
  • salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a medium size bowl mix all your ingredients, taste and adjust sugar/salt levels to taste.
  • You can strain your ketchup to get a glossier look or just enjoy it as is! Store your healthy substitute for ketchup in a glass just in the fridge for up to 1 month.

Notes

– if you want your ketchup less thick then just add some water to get the desired consistency
– adjust the ketchup flavor by adding more sugar to it
– add some BBQ sauce for an extra flavor
– you can make fermented ketchup by adding a few tablespoons of brine from fermented veggies like pickles or sour kraut!
